Harley Davidson announces new line-up of electric motorcycles

In a recent announcement, Milwaukee-based motorcycle company Harley Davidson has revealed it plans to launch a new lineup of electric motorcycles. The company has confirmed that it has multiple new electric motorcycle platforms in development -- under its Project LiveWire initiative -- in the coming years.

The latest announcement by Harley Davidson, about a new lineup of electric motorcycles, has come in addition to previous reports that the company has efforts underway to launch its first electric motorcycle. The motorcycle will chiefly be targeted at younger, more urban motorcycle riders.

With Harley Davidson already having disclosed that its halo model ‘LiveWire’ is scheduled for launch in 2019, the new announcement has revealed that the company plans to launch two smaller and cheaper electric motorcycles in 2021 and 2022.

Highlighting the fact that Harley Davidson is “going big in EV” and plans to bring in “a whole new customer base,” Chief Operating Officer Michelle Kumbier said that the company will launch a new lineup of electric motorcycles “that will range in size, power, as well as price.”

In an evident effort to achieve its plans to launch multiple electric motorcycles over the next few years, Harley Davidson is expanding its EV team. The company has recently advertised for a number of new positions, including an Electric Vehicle Lead Project Manager, a Developmental Services Engineer – Electric Vehicle, and multiple Electric Vehicle Systems Engineers.
