Chevy Bolt EV’s limited availability in Canada has created substantial backlog
Chevrolet’s Bolt is value-for-money electric vehicle with high demand in the U.S. market but new reports suggest high demand for Bolt EV in Canada as well. According to GreenCarReports, the demand for General Motors’ (GM) Chevy Bolt EV is quite significant in Canada, even though the availability of the all-electric vehicle is fairly limited.
As per the report, the high demand and limited availability of Chevy Bolt EV in Canada has resulted in a situation in which a backlog has been created for the vehicle for up to one year. Incidentally, GM’s CEO has said in an earlier-this-year announcement that the automaker had efforts underway to increase the production of Chevy Bolt EV.
GreenCarReports’ disclosure about the backlog for Chevy Bolt EV in Canada is based on the information shared by a GM spokesperson. The spokesperson has revealed that there is currently a waiting list for Chevy Bolt EV in the country, with the vehicle evidently backordered by up to a year.
The GM spokesperson told electric car magazine that the creation of backlogs is “not uncommon with launch products,” especially in case of vehicles like the Chevy Bolt EV which are being considered to be “unique game changers.”
Moreover, along with disclosing that Chevy Bolt EB is witnessing a ‘high demand, limited availability’ situation in Canada, GM spokesperson also added alongside: “We have also seen an increase in demand for the popular Volt.”
